He’s here!!! After 9 months of waiting, dreaming, hoping and praying, our son is finally born! “For unto us a son is born; unto us a son is given!” We praise God for this miracle of miracles–a son!!!
Tyler was born at 4:16pm on Wednesday, February 10th. He weighed in at 7 pounds and one-half ounce, and was 20 inches long. He has 10 fingers, 10 toes, 2 eyes, 2 ears, and two incredulous and amazed parents. His hands and feet still look a bit wrinkly, but his face is chubby, bright, and beautiful.
Why Tyler Owen???
We chose to name him Tyler, not only because it sounds good in English, but also because it sounds good in Japanese as well. In Japanese, Tyler is pronounced “Taira” (たいら) and looks like this: 平. The name means “peace.” We do indeed pray that our son would be a blessing to this world, and that he would bring the peace of God to a desperately hurting world. “Owen” originally means “child of [one's] youth, but can also mean “to support/to assist” in Japanese. We hope that this little one ends up being a great assistance to the work of gospel ministry in Japan!
After our stay here at Winne Palmer Hospital, we’ll be doubly blessed by two back-to-back grandmom visits! First, Jen’s mom will be coming for about 10 days, and then Mike’s Mom is coming for an additional week. Not only will we be extremely thankful for their help with the baby, we’ll also relish this opportunity to grow closer to them through this incredible time. We are blessed indeed!
