Japanese Culture Essays

Below are some very brief essays that Mike has written regarding Japanese culture.

The Myth of Japanese Culture explores the notion that Japanese culture, in the sense of a single definable entity, simply doesn't exist.

The Problem of Compromise addresses the propensity shown by many Japanese churches to avoid standing out at the expense of truth.

And The Cutting of the Culture Card is a brief expose about the inappropriate ways that over-simplified views about culture are used to justify certain behaviors at the expense of peoples' hearts.

Jen's Field of Vision Book

A few years back, Jen compiled some of her favorite quotes, passages, and thoughts about personal vision into a single bound volume called Field of Vision: A Book of Questions. Full of thought-provoking questions, Scripture passages, monthly follow-up worksheets, and white space for journaling, Field of Vision can help you rediscover the unique vision that God has for your life. It even includes a "time capsule" epilogue that allows you to set a date to re-open the book and look back on the vision you've set.

Below are some sample pages to give you a taste of what this book is about:

Field of Vision: A Book of Questions is available in several formats:

Whatever you choose, we hope that you find it useful, and that enjoy it as much as Jen enjoyed putting it together!
